New Year's Eve ! PARTY !!

It's New Years Eve and the restless natives are already gearing up for this evening's festivities. We're having a New Years Party at Krystel's Restaurant and Nightclub. It should be great!

It was nice to see my friend, Tania, who came by to see me this week. We had cocktails at the club and chatted for a while. I miss seeing her.

The Pictures: Two of the crazy people in my life, my pals, Hector and Avelino (affectionately known as "Vegita").  Picture Two; The awaited arrival of 2007, now requesting clearance for landing.

This Date In History: Thomas A. Edison first publicly demonstrates the electric light bulb. Since that date the image has been turning on in most people's minds every few minutes (notice I said most, some people will always will be in the dark). The light bulb soon was discovered by children who have the ability to turn one on but cannot remember to turn it off, much do the delight of Florida Power and Light. Somewhere in their early twenties, they gain the ability to turn light bulbs off after receiving their first few light bills!

President Gerald Ford's body lies in state in Washington, D.C. God rest ye, kind sir!

Birthdays: Henri Matisse, French artist (1869), Anthony Hopkins (1937)

That's it for today! Have a safe, happy and propsperous New Year!

Sadam Hussein Is Dead !

Sadam Hussein, 69 years old,  was executed yesterday at 10: 05 p.m. eastern standard time. Hussein refused the execution hood and went to the gallows holding a copy of the Koran. CNN aired the execution up until the last moments of the execution, freezing the pictures on a feed from Iraqi television to exclude the actual moment of execution.

The Pictures: The Ace of Spades, Sadam Hussein hanged in Iraq for the murder of 146 men and boys after a foiled assassination attempt. Picture two; a stern Sadam Hussein during his trial for murder

This Date In History: 1853; United States Minister to Mexico, James Gadsden and Mexican President Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana sign the Gadsden Purchase agreement in Mexico City. In a separate, secret agreement, the United States agreed to leave large, gaping holes along the border between the two countries to facilitate the entire Mexican population to cross the border into the United States.

There are two days left on 2006. The last three days have seen the deaths of James Brown, President Gerald Ford and Sadam Hussein. Let's hope that the remaining two days have sunshine instead of darkness and let's slip quietly and safely into a prosperous 2007 !

Birthdays: Rudyard Kipling, English writer and Nobel laureate (1869)

That's the scoop.

Rosie Vs The Trumpster - Part III

Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump are in Part III of their well publicized on-air feud. The latest news is that Rosie called the Trumpster a "pimp" in her daily blog and Trump, in return, in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, said that Rosie was "a slob" and a "loser". The only thing that I see that they have in common is that they would both like to make-out with Miss U.S.A.

The Pictures: My Pals - Hector, Raul and Jorge, all of whom are former models for the J.C. Penney men's underwear catalog. I put on my reading glasses and discovered that the previous pictures of Krystels Restaurant and Nightclub was blurry, so I took another picture last night. And the last picture is of the lovely "Krystel", herself.

This Date In History: 1845; Texas is admitted to the Union as the 28th State. 1891; Thomas Edison invents the wireless radio. Soon after, most women are equipped, at birth, with same, without a volume control knob.

Marajuana has become the nation's highest cash crop, surpassing corn for the distinguished category. It does not surprise me at all, considering the fact that it's very difficult to smoke an ear of corn (I'm told).

Birthdays: Charles Goodyear (1800),  Andrew Johnson, 17th President of the United States (1808),  Mary Tyler Moore (1937),  Jon Voight of Midnight Cowboy fame (1938),  Ray Nitschke, American Football player (1938)

That's the scoop for today. More tomorrow.

Just Things and Such !

Last evening at Krystel's was nice. Nice to see Jocko and Frantz as always and I enjoyed singing a duet with Carol.  Emilio, Frantz and I sang "Wildfire".  I caught up with some of the people that I missed over the Christmas weekend, including Jorge, Willie, Hector, Lourdes, Raul and the "Doc". Everyone's a little tired from all the weekend treks and visits and most just wanted to chill. My son, Kevin, is in town for a few days with his wife Kari and the kids. Good to hear from them. Sister Jeannie also called to say hello.

I missed seeing Alfonso and Lydia, but family's in town and everyone has an agenda. I also missed seeing Carrie, Rocio and Marta. I'll catch up with them by the weekend. I miss Martini 21 !

Karaoke night is moving from Wednesdays to Tuesdays,  beginning January 2, 2007. Same time, same station.......!  Feels wierd writing 2007, but it's almost time. Get used to it.

The Pictures: It's called "Desert Moon". I like this picture. It makes a good desktop design.

This Date In History: 1945; The United States Congress officially recognizes the Pledge of Allegiance and recommends it's recitation in American schools. Most latins are also happy because they think the pledge starts with "Jose can you see?"

They're having James Brown's funeral today in New York at the Apollo Theatre. There's good coverage on CNN.

Remember, if you have any thoughts, comments, pictures or ideas you want to present, you can email me at JimSulliv3@aol.com

Birthdays: President Woodrow Wilson (1856), Dame Maggie Smith (1934)

I'm Getting Into The Mood !

It's Wednesday and we're halfway through the week and well on our way to a weekend of revelry and partying! I'm hoping to get that started tonight at our weekly Karoake extravaganza at Krystel's Restaurant and Nightclub, featuring many artists well known to a handful of people. Actually, there are a lot of talented singers who visit each week and the music is enjoyable. Come on over and show your artistry. The music is varied and features songs in both english and spanish.

The Pictures: Katrina fraud is expected to pass one billion dollars! ONE BILLION DOLLARS ! Ah, Mayor Ray, you're doing real well and your citizens should be proud, not only of you, but theirselves.  Y'all did well ! In the meantime the T-shirt business did very well and a lot of frustration and anger were subtly and not so subtly displayed. Take a good look!

This Date In History: 1932; Radio City Music Hall opens in New York City. 1968; The first manned mission to the moon, Apollo 8, returned safely to earth. A little known fact is that one of the secondary missions in the landing was to retrieve Alice Kramden, who had been sent there from a punch from her husband, Ralph Kramden.  Ralph, Norton and Trixie were there to hail her return.

Former President Gerald Ford died Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m. He was 93 years old. He had been ill for a period of time. Ford was the only person to serve as President who was never elected for either President or Vice President.

Birthdays: Marlene Dietrich, actress and singer (1901)

So much for today's entry. Maybe more later.

And Now, Back To Work For A Few Days !

Well, it's Tuesday and we all have to work the rest of the week, but, guess what? We're already past the first hump.  I had a nice Christmas dinner with Lydia and Alfonso at Lydia's house. Nice to see all the family and Lydia's cutie-pie daughters. Larrisa and Ivana. The food was great (as always) and it was a good evening. I restrung Lydia's (Brother Joe) guitar and every one had a good time.

The Miami Dolphins lost to the New York Jets. They played a much better game this week even though they lost.

The Pictures: These just struck me, so here they are;  first, Mother and Baby polar bears and secondly, My cat, Possum S. Hemmingway (you can visit his site, click on the links in this entry), has a new admirer who live across the way and the seem to be friends. We'll see~!

This Date In History: 1865; The first coffee percolator was patented. 1985; after my fifth cuban coffee of the morning, I experienced heart palpatations. I Thought I was in love, but it was just the caffeine.

Birthdays: Steve Allen (1921),  Richard Widmark (1914)

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas one and all. I made it through a wonderful "Noche Buena" arriving at my abode at approximately 3:30 a.m. , which is the reason that this entry is being written at 4:30 p.m. I went to Emilio and Melina's house for Noche Buena and it was great! Emilio roasted the pork and Melina and company did all the trimmings. They did a great job and the settings were picture perfect, speaking of which, I am entering a picture of Melina and Brenda hard at work in the kitchen. I hope to get more pic's from Melina's digital camera. I managed to send a few text messages last evening to friends and family last evening and hope to finish up today. I also managed to delete my friend Rocio's cell number when I was trying to text her a Christmas message. Not too bright, huh? She emailed it to me this a.m.

Thanks to everyone for the pictures and comments you send. Please keep up the good work. I need to start storing some photos online, because it's overloading my computer (manufactured by "Dinosaur's Inc.")

Unfortunately, with news, there is good and bad. James Brown died this a.m around 1:30. I was sorry to hear about that, because since I was a puppy playing lounges at 19 years old, James was always on the radio and in the news. He'll be missed.

The Pictures: Melina and Brenda in the kitchen on "Noche Buena". The following pictures are entries sent to me by Santa Claus.

This Date In History: 0000; The birth of Jesus. 1776; Gerge Washington crosses the Delaware River for a raid on Brittish Mercenaries the next day at the Battle Of Trenton. 1962: I swim across the Miami River escaping the authorities from a sorority panty raid.

A soldier was killed today in Iraq. They didn't mention his name but of all days, this one was painful. I really don't want to go on a tirade today about Iraq, but suffice to say, as the song goes, we go to get out of this place!

Birthdays: My friend Flor "Porcha" Horna, Humphrey Bogart (1899), Clara Barton, founder of the Red Cross (1821),  Cab (Cabell) Calloway (1907), Sissy Spacek (1949).

The Pictures: It is necessary to remember that there are larger footprints to follow, and people to remember and think about.

This Date In History: 1906; The first radio program is broadcast. Women take the cue and carry on broadcasting on their own. The good thing about the radio is that you can always unplug it.

Thank God It's Friday! Everyone's just about finished preparing for Christmas and I'm certain Happy Hour at Krystels Restaurant and Nightclub will be filled with a lot of tired, thirsty people. I'll be looking for you and  please note that today there will be no docter's excuses or tardy notes accepted!

This Rosie and the Trumpster deal is getting good. It'as funny to listen to a big mouth macho putting down another big mouth macho (pun intended!).

It's her birthady!  The third one is cute. It's a good reminder that 'tis the season for family! The fourth one ws emailed to me by a reader. I don't know how the little mouse got in, but he had to be rescued. The last one's a big hug for everyone!

This Date In History: 1894; The first voice synthesizer known as "P.T.Barnum's Euphonium" was demonstrated to the public. I have a buddy of mine that was arrested for demonstrating to the public.

Sunday Night is "Noche buena".  I can't wait for that! Lots of pork, yuca, and black beans and rice, not to mentioned a few choice beverages. Should be fun. Estoy listo. llamame!

Birthdays: My beautiful friend, Carmen Perez and Cornelius "Connie Mack" McGillicuddy, American baseball player. Wasn't Lucy's maiden name McGillicuddy and Desi could never pronounce it?

I had A Good Time Last Night !

I had fun last night! I can't tell you everything, but suffice to say there was two close friends, one wanna-be, and at least two who were suffering from the effects of severe inebriation. The music was excellent and Frantz did his usual good job. Then, there was one very special late night friend. You had to be there.

Rosie O'Donnel and the Trumpster are battling about the reinstatement of that Miss USA chick. Rosie trashed the Trumpster about his throwing rocks, while living in a glass house and The Donald replied that Rosie was disgusting, both inside and out. "I think I'll sue her fat ass", said He. I'm not too big (no pun intended) on Rosie but, The Donald needs to seriously think about a hair stylist.

The Pictures: Two of the best people you'd ever want to meet. Happy to say they are my good friends.

This Date In History: 1803; France transfers the territory of Louisiana to the United States. Later on France puts the hurricane jinx on Louisiana just to be pissy. I knew a girl in Louisiana, biblically.

Santa Claus is coming! It's the time of year to be nice to you friends and neighbors. Relax, sit back, don't worry, be happy! Send a card to one of our troops abroad. You don't need a name. I'm sorry to say that the search for the remaining climbers on Mount hood is now being considered a recovery effort. God bless them and their families.

Uncle George Bush is seriously considering sending even more troops to Iraq. I hope they bring some nukes with them. I'm about fed up with this shit!

Friday's Coming ! Full Speed Ahead!

It's time to finish preparations for this weekend. The only weird thing is that Christmas Day is on a Monday. Monday's are usually blah days, but I think this one's gonna be special!  It's difficult to imagine having eggnog Monday morning, but in the spirit of Christmas, I guarantee everyone will make an earnest effort, especially when the spirit is alcohol!

The Pictures:  I liked this one when I received it. You can add you own caption under comments.

This Date In History: The Olympic committee has disqualified one of it's female runners because she failed the gender test. I believe the last time that happened was on "The View".  A 29 year old woman claims that she is the "love child" of Mel Gibson. I guess we know who's gonna get blamed for that! Last, but not least, Miss USA, who has been linked to using cocaine, under age drinking and kissing face with another woman, has been "pardoned" by "The Donald" Hmmm! What happened to "You're Fired?'

Birthdays: Cicely Tyson

I've got to hit the streets today and catch up on a few things. Tomorrow's Karaoke night at Krystel's Nightclub. Happy hour 4:00 to & 7:00. Karaoke starts at 6:00. Hope to see you there!

Blah! It's Monday!

It's inevitable, Monday always comes! We need to designate a special Monday once a month who gets to change places with any other day it wishes (except Sunday). So, Monday could be Friday (i.e. payday, happy hour and even get the special title T.G.I.M.)

They found one of the climbers on Mount Hood deceased. I do and have done some crazy things but climbing and sky diving will never be one of them. My condolences to the affected families.

The Pictures: The first picture is how I feel and the second one is what I should be doing.

This Date In History: (awaiting entry)

Birthdays: Keith Richards (Rolling Stones), Ty Cobb (I never met a man I didn't spike)

The Dolphins lost again! Worst game I've seen in a while. In Basketball, the brothers comitted assault and battery again. The fines are 15 games ($800,000.00, more or less).  I Love it !

I can't wait until February when the speed weeks begin. There's absolutely nothing (after football) on TV until then unless you like figure skating and bowling.

Today In Sports !

Thank God things are back to normal. For most brief moment I thought the Dolphins were becoming better, but they're back to playing their usual game. Is it possible to trade the whole team (saving a few, of course)? What can I tell you?

It's getting closer to Christmas. Lots of parties to attend and a lot of people who should have taken "Drinking 101" in college. Thank God I speak english, spanish, french and Jack Daniels

We're having a big New Years Party at Krystels Club. If you haven't made reservations, I suggest that you do (305-823-0449).

The Pictures: I thought that the buffalo picture was apropos, because they executed Miami.

This Date In History: My son was in school and he told the teacher he had to pee. The teacher answered, "Kevin, we don't say 'pee", we say urinate. Can you use that in a sentence?" Kevin replied, "Yes, I can. Your an eight and if you had bigger tits, you'd be a ten!"

I Like Saturdays

Saturdays are good, especially after Fridays! I performed at Kryst Restaurant and Nightclub last night. I sang a few numbers and then slipped out to Avelino Vega's Christmas Party at Don Shula's ( Which was hot). Avelino owns many cell phone stores and is a pleasure to be around. All his employees are super nice and he's a man that you can count on. You can contact Avelino at 305-621-1300. He's up on 57th avenue (Red Road) near the Palmetto Expressway. I'll get you the address later.

I went back to Krystel's and an hour later, Avelino ("Vegita") Vegaa brought his party over to our party. We had a good time!

The Pictures: It's me ! Singing a few tunes at Krystels. The third one is "Vegita".

This Date In History: I was having soup in a restaurant in Miami. I called the waiter over and asked, " Waiter, taste my soup".  He replied, "Oh no sir, I wouldn't think of it". I said, No, it's ok, we're friends, taste it". He pleaded, "No, Jimmy, you go ahead and enjoy it" I said, "Taste it, I insist!".  He said, " OK, just a sip. Where's the spoon?" " AHA !, I replied.

Here's Carlos Oliva !

Ladies and Gentlemen, my friend, Carlos Oliva. I've known Carlos for several mango seasons and have had the pleasure of an impromptu duet with Carlos at " The Penthouse Cafe". We go back many years including such places as "Don Quixote" and"The Forge" Restaurant.  Since I heard his first album in the seventies , Carlos' music has influenced my music and added inspiration to a lot of my songs. Carlos is currently playing at the new casino at Gulfsteam Park each and every Friday.  From the early days listening to Carlos, Javier,  Eddie Elmer and the rest of the "nephews", Carlos' music continues to expand and capture the imagination of his fans. One of the first Latin artists to incorporate songs in both spanish and english, his stylistic manner is ever pleasing to the ear. You owe it to yourself to catch Carlos in concert every Friday at Club Seranata inside Gulfstream Park. Show times are 11:00 p.m and 1:00 a.m.

The Pictures: These marvelous shots are the epitome of the style and grace of Carlos Oliva!  I urge you to click on the icon and enlarge these photos. There's not much more to say than.......enjoy! I've also added some friends and family including Jonathon, my nephew, who recently passed away. I've linked his site to mine. Please visit it.  My friends Emilio and Melina,  Alfonso and Lydia, and a young Jonathon (Sully) and his brother and sisters

This Date In History: One the first things I learned about raising a baby is that when they soil their diapers, you do not reprimand them by hitting them with a rolled up newspaper.

That's it for the A.M. entry. I'll  probably return later to update today's entry. In the meantime...........

Feelin' Political

Yeah,  I'm feeling political. Why? I have no idea!  Watchin' CNN...Barack Obama or Ala Bama or whatever his name is,  at a "sold out $25.00 a plate dinner"  in New Hampshire.  At this pace, he'll raise well over $37,023.64 for his "I'm not a candidate" presidential aspirations.   Hillary,  Billy's wife, kicking up her program. Long shot, depends on her running mate. Rudy Giuliani for Prez? Won't happen! Too many opinions and positions that are risky.  McCain's got a shot. The GOP polls say Newt's got a chance...and Rudy too! So much for polls.

Speaking of Newt, who the hell named or nicknamed a man after a lizard (SEE: newt, eft, salamander). But then again you have real names: Plaxico or Plexico,  Simian (look that one up),  The twins; Orangelo and Lemongelo (found out later that was orange jello and lemon jello), ad nauseum.

The Pictures: Bill Clinton..just got this one. Democrats are in...let's see what happens. The second one is priceless! Hugo Chavez' town of birth. Que comico!  Speaking of comical,  the tragedy of Katrina usurped by the Feds slow and poor reaction, the people suffering while the thugs and police looted. and now...the TEE SHIRTS!  I have more, not sure if I can show them all. We'll see! Last, but not least, from my friend Beverly, the newest in women's electronics and merchandise. I have more of these too, but I have a lot of lady friends who I fear would cause me bodily harm if I overdo the woman thing. One day at a time (no pun intended).

This Date In History: 1974 - Italy played Poland for the World Cup final. After several bad calls from the referee, the Italian team stalked off the field in protest. Three minutes later, Poland scored!

That's it for right now. I need to edit and add a few more things. Check it later.

Ah Sunday!

Ah Sunday! I usually like sports on Sundays until this time of year. No auto racing, no baseball, football's coming to a close and next...... BASKETBALL! Three months of BASKETBALL! Makes you want to return to practice conjugating the verb "To Be". Ten guys run downcourt, then most of them run upcourt, etc, etc, ad nauseum. Fin De La Cuenta....Two minutes to go ....always tied 96 to 96.

The Space Shuttle launched successfully last night. I hope my ex mother-in-law was on it.

The Pictures: Now closed captioned for the hard-of-understanding. I received a lot of new photos from various sources yesterday, some of which can be shown.  Carrie sent me a great video, but I don't think this site supports videos. I'm going to try and link My Space and You Tube sites today or tomorrow.

This Date In History: 19## - My ex-wife said she wanted to go on vacation to someplace she's never visited before. I said, "Try The Kitchen!"

Thanks to recent contributors for new material. Comments and Photos welcomed!

That's it for now. Maybe more later. Check Possum S. Hemmingway's site!

Friday Night Was Good!

Krystel's was happening Friday. Marc and Rosie were there, along with Jorge, Brenda, Guillermo ("Guille"),  Brenda,  Pepe, Rhodie, Melina, Emilio, Robert, Zoila and of course, the star "Krystel". Some of the group didn't make it and just so you know, the no-shows are going on report.

The Pictures: Well,  first of all you have to see the Krystel's sign, so you know where to go in. We put the sign because some of our group get lost real easy. The second picture is Guillermo, who is the man to know at the bar and third, Yeah, it's me, a few years back singing at different club. I just put it in for self entertainment.

This date in History: Hector was still looking for Luis, who left the club Wednesday after visting a newly renovated club known as T.I.'s

Got some new pic's from Laury, Tania and my sis, Jeanne. Some I can show you in the future and some have to be edited to see if I can put them here.

Carmen, we miss seeing you! Call me! Barbie, don't make me go to your office. You better call or email me.

That's it for now. Maybe more later.

It's Friday, Viernes Social!

It's Happy Hour (Viernes Social)!  I'm going to Krystyels Club and sing with the band. We had a good night Wednesday 'cause that's the night we do Karaoke from 6:00-11:00 p.m.  Come on you guys, meet me there. Lydia and Al will be there. So will Doc and Rosie, Emilio and Melina, Jorge and Jennie,  Luis,  Hector,  Larry and Rhodie, etc. I'm getting pictures and I'll show you another time. (If you don't come, you know we're gonna gossip about you). The club's in Miami Lakes at the Cypress Village Shopping Center.

Oh....The Pictures!

I almost forgot. The first one is  Shithead's little friends. Cute, huh? The next one is my friend, Tania, in Puerto Rico,  also cute, huh? The next one is Shithead's closeup and the last one is of a lady who went into the men's bathroom by accident. Look familiar?

I added a site to my home page. It's www.sullyssite.com and it's a tribute to my nephew, Jonathon, who died at the age of 21 and I miss him. His mom, Janet, made the site. Check it out. He was a good kid, in the Navy and doing well. Sometimes God does things I don't understand. I'll be adding pictures of him and my nieces and all my friends and family for that matter. They'll be here and also in my public gallery on aol. I'll give you the address soon!

That's it for now. I may post later after I return from Krystels Club.

Please feel free  to comment or send photos and I'll get in touch with ya!

STAY TUNED!

It's A Better Day!

It's a better day. I went to Krystel's Club in Miami Lakes and saw my friends Lydia and Alfonso. I'll show you a picture of them in the future. A lot of my friends were there, some having a good time and some people, like  the picture I took of my friend, were a little too happy.

Sang a few songs during the karaoke show. My friend, Emilio owns Krystel's Club. It's named after his daughter. I have to get Nicole to come sing again with me there. She said she would, but you know Niki.

My friend, Laury, visited my site yesterday. She said she liked it. The picture of me that I first posted is an old one. Since I take pictures of other people, I don't have too many of me. Think I'll let one of the girls take a photo of me with my camera and I'll post it.   YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

I'm going there again tonight. If there's any good happenings or gossip you'll be the first to know. Stay tuned!

Are you kidding me?

Things are getting a little better. Still screwing up, though. Comp's working better and AOL is not screwing things up as much.

Possum S. Hemmingway, affectionately known as "Shithead" and his friend, Gato Barbieri, went out drinking last night. I have photos of them and of the sign at the tavern where they were imbibing.

P.S.Hemmingway has his own home page and journal. I'll get it out to you soon. Gato doesn't have a page.

Me? I'm better....(compared to a sharp stick in the eye).  Tomorrow, I've got to go to my buddy, "Doc"'s house. He's going away for a few days and I've got to take care of his dog,  Chico. Chico speaks english and spanish, but so do I, so he can't B.S. me.  I'll show you a picture of him soon.  He's a trip!

My Journal

Well, I'm back! I managed to delete this journal tonight instead of another entry. So, that's me (old photo, but the only one I have right now) and the next picture is Possum S. Hemmingway. He has his own journal and home page. I'll give you more info on "Shithead" (that's what the "S" stands for) as we progress. He has seven toes on each front paw!

I watched the dolphins play their normal game yesterday. What a piece of work! But, more later on that.

If I hear Kramer apologize one more time, I think I'll Puke! Get over it!

I guess I'll stop for now and re-establish this site. I'm not in a very good mood.
