I'm Beat !

I finally managed to go to AREA 51 last night and my pal, Emilio and I started out at Lakes Cafe. We knew that there were rumors that Lakes Cafe had been sold since last Friday, but nothing was officially confirmed last night. Owner Richard had been hospitalized for a week and was discharged yesterday. My best wishes go out to Richard for a speedy recovery.

We left Lakes Cafe after one cocktail and stopped by another restaurant to see some friends and have a cup of Cuban coffee. It had been about a week since I had Cuban coffee and it was well worth the stop.

From there, we stopped by a store to purchase a few items and I encouraged Emilio to buy a lottery ticket. He bought one for $5 and it paid $25, so we were ahead of the game. After one more stop at another local watering hole, we came to the conclusion that everyone must have decided to stay home. Based on that, we decided to quit while we were ahead and played dominoes for the rest of the night. I got home about 4:00 a.m.

Julia Childs (nee McWilliams) was a spy for the United States, during World War II according to reports today. She served in China and Sri Lanka for the OSS (later the CIA). Although I applaud Ms. Childs dedication and patriotism, I must admit that faced with having to go out with her or betray my country, I too would have blabbed.

The Hits Just Keep On Coming:

A wife went in to see a therapist and said, "I've got a big problem doctor. Every time we're in bed, my husband lets out earsplitting yells."

"My dear," the shrink said, "that's completely natural. I don't see what the problem is."

"The problem," she complained, "is that it wakes me up."

A married couple was in a terrible accident where the woman's face was severely burned. The doctor told the husband that they couldn't graft any skin from her body because she was too skinny. So the husband offered to donate some of his own skin.

However, the only skin on his body that the doctor felt was suitable would have to come from his buttocks. The husband and wife agreed that they would tell no one about where the skin came from, and requested that the doctor also honor their secret. After all, this was a very delicate matter.

After the surgery was completed, everyone was astounded at the woman's new beauty. She looked more beautiful than she ever had before! All her friends and relatives just went on and on about her youthful beauty! One day, she was alone with her husband, and she was overcome with emotion at his sacrifice. She said, "Dear, I just want to thank you for everything you did for me. There is no way I could ever repay you."

"My darling," he replied, "think nothing of it. I get all the thanks I need every time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek."

That's it for today my little tadpoles. More tomorrow.

Stay Tuned !

I very favorite bit was about Julia Childs because I admire her too and I would ahve never guessed..aka the perfect spy for us in WWII!
My second favorite comment you made was about Roosevelt because I adored both Roosevelts!
I think he was absolutely awesome in the Great Depression and  very stalwart during WWII.You like him too didn't you?

If Julia cooked one of her wonderful meals, you wouldn't declare yourself a patriotic American? I can hear her in my head describe it to you; detail by long, over blown detail. Go, USA!
