Reality Bites - Back To Work !

It's Hump Day and normally a day where I tend to wander over to AREA 51 at Lakes Cafe to help end world hunger and promote peace on earth. Unfortunately, I have used most of my party energy in in the last few weeks and, discretion being the better part of valor, I will remain home this evening to gather energy for Friday.

The transition from the holiday parties back to reality begins today and where better to start than with the ongoing story of the three teens that were "attacked" by a Bengal tiger, resulting in the death of one of the young men and the subsequent shooting of the tiger. The basics of the story, originally, were that the tiger escaped from holding area and attacked the men.

It was said that the teen who was killed was a "hero" and died trying to rescue his two friends. Although it was a tragic story, the pieces didn't quite seem to fit in my mind. Now, new information has come to the surface that two slingshots were discovered on the other two injured boys and an empty vodka bottle was found in their car. Now, it's starting to make more sense.

The tiger, who was raised in captivity, had no real reason to escape the world he was born in and it is said that he had adapted fine to his living area. Of course, if you're sitting in your home and three teenagers start shooting you with slingshots, perhaps you might become a bit pissed and react. But, that's just me !

The Iowa caucus is tomorrow and I'm relatively sure you know how I feel about politicians, but just in case you're unsure of my opinion of the candidates, I have a graphic from sister Jeanne which will help you understand my position.

The Pictures: My pal, Beverly, sent me pictures of a fawn who had wandered among some horses and I think you will enjoy them. There were no injuries and the fawn was eventually reuinited with its' mother. There's a few more you might enjoy including a redneck neighborhood crime watch group.

Ten Thoughts to Ponder for 2008.  Happy New Year!

Number10; Life is sexually transmitted.

Number 9; Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Number 8; Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich.

Number 7; Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day, teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

Number 6; Some people are like a Slinky ... Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

Number 5; Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Number 4; All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Number 3; Why does a slight tax increase cost you $200.00 and a substantial taxcut saves you $30.00?

Number 2; In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

And The Number 1 Thought For 2008:

We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among millions and millions of cows in America but we haven't got a clue as to where millions of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of Immigration.

"Life is like a jar of Jalapeno peppers. What you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow".

That's it for today my little popsicles. More tomorrow.

Stay Tuned !

I am in Iowa.  I am so happy this will soon be over and all the pretty little people will soon be gone bugging someone else.  I can't even answer my phone and who knows what it would be like if I had TV.

Thanks for the reminder about the Jalapeno peppers....I keep forgetting.  I think it's picture #2..the little kitten, the markings are the same as my little bitty flat faced cat, Gabi.  Sorry about you having to go back to work....gosh I'm glad I retired last February.  That was a good decision for this old lady.   Linda in Washington state

You are truly an inspiration to us homebodies...I live my life through you!  You are a social butterfly, flitting about from Area 51 to Area 51, all the while solving the problems of the world!  Your respite tonight should give you more ammo for Friday night...when it really counts!  Cute Corn Flakes box, but I'm a Raisin Bran girl myself!  I agree on the tiger story...CNN interviewed Jack Hanna the other day, and he said the same thing, "there's more to this story than what has been reported!"
