Life's A Gamble !

I like the nightlife, I like to boogie......, and Las Vegas is probably most charactaristic of my personality. Being a singer-musican and very accustomed to nightlife, I'm wont to be drawn, like a moth to the flame, to this magic city. To add to the fire, I love to gamble. Far from being a professional gambler, I'm usually able to hold my own and occasionally, I win a shekel or two. Add to this my love of the ladies and voila ! It's been a while since I've been to Las Vegas and lately, I'm beginning to itch.

To make matters worse, I spoke to a lady friend of mine a few nights ago and she told me that she just got back from Vegas. After letting her know that I had been thinking about going out there for months her reply was, "Why didn't you tell me? You could have gone with me, it was all comped." Ah, the ladies, you just gotta love 'em. In the interim, I'm always running short of cash when I'm gambling and there's never a ATM around. I found a slot machine that meets my needs when that happens.

Speaking of ladies, today's hump day (no pun intended), and there's a good chance I might wander over to AREA 51 at Lakes Cafe and Pub. I haven't been there since Friday where my sweet Nicole joined me for drinks. I haven't spoken to Hector and Lourdes, but they weren't there Friday and methinks they told me last Wednesday that they were finally moving back in to their newly remodeledhouse that weekend. I'll probably see them tonight.

I have a new wallpaper that I found on AOL for my phone. It's not really wallpaper, per se, but I took a picture of the image on my computer screen and used it as wallpaper. It works very well. What do you think of the new icon for AREA 51 ?

The Pictures: I really like the picture of the street lamp. It's entitled "Jack the Ripper" by the author, but I like to think of it as "Drunk on his way to the car after drinking at the Pub". Probably a little long, huh? There's really no way of describing to you how I picked the rest of today's pictures, other than "eclectic", a term assigned to me by one of my readers who shall remain nameless.

This Date In History1307; The legendary Swiss archer, William Tell, is said to have shot Hermann Gessler, the Austrian governor of Tyrol. 1944; Franklin D. Roosevelt is re-elected to a record fourth term as president of the United States. 1989; In New York - Former Manhatten borough president, David Dinkins, becomes the city's first black mayor. In Virginia - Governor Douglas Wilder becomes the first elected black state governor in American history.

Birthdays: Marie Curie, Polish-born French chemist and two time winner of the Nobel Prize (1867), Leon Trotsky, Russian Marxist (1879), Billy Graham, evangelist (1918).

The Hits Just Keep On Coming:

A Rabbi walks into a New York bar with a frog on his shoulder. The bartender says, "hey, that's cool ! Where did you get it?" The frog answers, "In Brooklyn, there's hundreds of them up there."

That's it for today, my little rug rats. I'll see you tonight at Lakes Cafe and more tomorrow.

Stay Tuned !

Is that your son on your sidebar?
Even if it is not, thank him for me!

I was just in Vegas.  Didn't gamble though unless you call eating at Bouchon gambling. (It cost a fortune)  I feel like a pop tart instead of a rug rat!  Anne

I only gamble when I dream of it. Once or twice a year.  I am a couple of thousand ahead.  Now if I could only dream of winning the lottery!  Your hump day is my last day off, now for my long stretch on, sigh.

Your description of yourself is exactly what I thought of you!  Granted there's a pic of you, but you do strike me as a night owl...and all that comes with that!  Have a great Thursday :)

Hermann Gessler should have balanced a bigger apple on his head.
