Yep ! The sun's out and life is good. The rains have subsided, the wind is not as strong (except from my cat, Shithead. I have no idea what he ate, but.....I digress). It looks like the Bahamas are going to get tropical storm, Noel. I have a lady friend in Freeport and I hope she does ok.
I have to do a quick note for my pal, Anne. Her pet, Luke the Wonder Dog, has been real sick lately and she's been a wreck. At last check, Luke was doing better, but time will tell. If you've got time tonight during your prayers, give ol' Duke a fifteen second spot. The key words in the prayer are arf, arf, and woof. God will understand! You can visit Anne's site to check on Luke the Wonder Dog by simply clicking "Saturday's Child" on the left side bar of my journal under "other journals".
Speaking of restaurants (What?), I had a lady friend who had a rather high opinion of her epicurial prowess and she invited me one evening to dinner. I can assure you that it was to impress me with her gourmet tastes and to intimidate me. Being the wonderful sport that I am (double what?), and by this time in our short relationship, I decided I'd pull a Clem Kadiddlehopper (ask your mom or check today's pictures).
It was a trendy French restaurant and we arrived at our table. I ordered a Johnny Walker Black on the rocks and she ordered white wine. It went like this:
Waiter: Would you like the soup du jour? Jimmy: No, I'll have this Veechey soyisee. I tried the soup du jour and it tastes different every time I have it. I think you guys gotta practice more on the one (cut to date, whose eyes are rolled back and mouth agape). (Waiter arrives with the soup dishes). Waiter: Here is your soup. Enjoy ! Jimmy: Waiter, please take this soup back, it's cold. Waiter: It's Vichyssoisse, sir. Jimmy: No it ain't! It's potatos and some type of onions...scallions probably. Waiter: Leeks, sir. Jimmy: Nah, nothing leaks. Look, just bring me some damned Campbells 'mater soup. And.......fade to black.
The Pictures: My pal, Carrie, sent me a bunch of these pictures and I thought I'd share them with you. I especially like the man with the mama duck and her ducklings. Shithead likes the fishing picture. I sto....borrowed, some more of my pal, Nancy's pics, including the last days of her flower garden before the change of seasons. As always, some blatant and cryptic messages and hellos, namely Clem drinks a martini. Oh deer, dear, Woody!
This Date In History: 1765; Parliament enacts the Stamp Act (and makes a pretty crummy cigarette). 1861; George B. McClellan becomes the Commander and Chief of the Union Army (while I have nothing against the McClellan family and I love Alabama, I disliked serving in the U.S. Army at Fort McClellan, Alabama, immensely). 1936; Italian prime minister Benito Mussolini describes the alliance between Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, as an "axis" running between Berlin and Rome.
Birthdays: Stephen Crane, poet and author of the novel "The Red Badge of Courage" (1871), Gary Player, South African golfer (1935).
The Hits Just Keep On Coming: Thanks to my pal, Carrie !
A man was in the mall, having a hamburger at the food court. A teen came up and sat down beside him, giving him the "I'm bad" typical teen look. The boy's hair was dyed in shades of blue, yellow, green, red and orange. The man couldn't help but stare at the kid's hair.
Finally, the teen looked over, saw the man staring and said, "What's the matter, old man, haven't you ever done anything wild in your life?"
The man replied, "As a matter of fact, I have. I got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son."
That's it for today, my little rollerskates. More tomorrow.
Stay Tuned !

I enjoyed reading this And good ole red buttons
You confuse me sometimes. I either leave your journal smiling, or with my brain hurting. Often both...and that's probably a good thing!

I bet you have a girl in every port, Jimmy! <grin... it was almost to easy!> And speaking of dates... surely (yes, shirley), you don't expect to see this woman again do you?? LOL
I've heard similar sentiments about Fort McCellan. However, I have never visited the place...

The only positive fact I can find about Mussolini was that he was a good rugby player.
