Will That Be One Humpday Or Two?

Thankfully, Hump Day has arrived ! Sounds like a pretty good reason to visit AREA 51 at Lakes Cafe and Pub and check out the inhabitants. It's been drizzling on and off today and if the weather gods decide to withhold the sunshine, I sure it will be sunny and nice inside the Pub. My pal, Johnny Walker Black is in charge of that and usually does a pretty good job.

I'm rather sure tonight will be fun today, because I've been advised that I may becoming into a great deal of money. I don't want to say too much until it's a done deal, but I can tell you that today I received mail telling me that I may have won ten million dollars. This, combined with the monies that I'll be receiving from a nice Black man in Nigeria, will make me rather wealthy. I will advise you as things progress.

I don't know if I told you, but my cat, Shithead, says thank you for all your kind remarks and comments. Normally, he wanders around the house, protesting, meowing and generally being mischievous, but then again, so do I (except for the meowing part). If you missed seeing his short video, which is his current claim to fame, check out yesterday's entry.

In The Animal World: Uno, a Beagle, has won Best In Show at the Westminster Kennel Club. The Beagle breed, although listed for over 100 years, has never won this award. Uno received the award to a standing ovation. Take heart, Snoopy, there's hope for the lowly underdog yet !

Good To See militant Islamic terrorist, Imad Mughniyeh, the suspected mastermind of the attacks on the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon that killed hundreds of Americans, was killed today in a car bombing in Syria.

The Pictures: The pictures of the various bombings and hijacking by the now dead Islamic terrorist, Imad Mughniyeh are among today's photographs. On a brighter note, a new picture of the Aurora Borealis is among the more heartwarming shots.

This Date In History: 1542; Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry VIII, loses her head not long after two of her accused lovers fall victim to the same demise. 1566; Saint Augustine, Florida, is established by Spanish explorer Pedro Menedez de Aviles. It is sacked and burned 21 years later by Sir Francis Drake. 1945; Allied forces begin a massive air strike against the German forces in Dresden, Germany. 1966; The Rolling Stones appear for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Birthdays: John Hunter, British anatomist and surgeon (1728), Chuck Yeager, test pilot of the experimental X-15 (1923), Peter Gabriel, British singer and songwriter (1950).

The Hits Just Keep On Coming: The demise of Catherine Howard, fifth wife of Henry VIII, on This Date In History reminds me of the following story:

A cat was walking across some railroad tracks, oblivious to the fact of the oncoming freight train. Upon finally seeing the train, the cat attempted to run and successfully avoided the train with the exception of a portion of his tail, which was severed by the train.

The cat, thinking that he could retrieve the tail for future re-attachment by a veterinarian, turned to retrieve it and was subsequently beheaded by another train coming from the opposite direction.

The moral of the story: Never lose your head over a piece of tail !

Tips From An Efficiency Expert

The efficiency expert concluded his lecture with a note of caution. "You don't want to try these techniques at home."

"Why not?" asked a listener from the back of the audience.

"I watched my wife's routine at breakfast for years," the expert explained. "She made lots of trips to the refrigerator, stove, table and cabinets, often carrying just a single item at a time. "Honey", I suggested, "Why don't you try carrying several things at once?"

"The voice from the back asked, "Did it save time?"

The expert replied, "Actually, yes. It used to take her 20 minutes to get breakfast ready. Now, despite my limp and broken arm, I do it in seven minutes.

That's it for today my little snow bunnies. More tomorrow.

Stay Tuned !

I was pleased to see the bomber got bombed.  Too bad it wasn't before he killed so many innocent people.   Your hump day is the beginning of my work week, sigh.
