How about those Giants ? I was fortunate in many ways yesterday, the first being I made no wagers on the game. Although I felt the Patriots would not cover the spread, I also felt that the Pats were a superior team and would win. Wrong, journalist breath !
Pleasantly surprised at the final score, I was annoyed in the early stages of the game when the Giants failed to score twice while in field goal range. It seemed that the Pats were destined to go 19-0 and tie the Miami Dolphins' 1972 perfect season. But, New York pulled it all together and after the unbelievable circus catch by Giants wide receiver, David Tyree, I could feel the eventual Giants win coming on. More importantly, my team, the Miami Dolphins ( who almost had a perfect losing season last year) would not have to share the perfect season title.
As a side note, the performance of The Star Spangled Banner by Jordin Sparks was superb. I was especially pleased with the arrangement and styling of the song. Kudos also to the Manning family as Eli joins his brother, Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning, as back to back winning Super Bowl quarterbacks.
The Pictures: Today's pictures come from my pal, Gipsy, who sends these fantastic pictures of the Harbin Ice Festival in China. Harbin, whose temperatures plunge to 40 degrees below zero, is renown for the festival. All the structures in the pictures are made completely of ice with neon lights buried within the ice blocks. These huge structures, some as high as 30 meters, are amazing. The Great Wall of China, an entire ship and various ice sculptures are among the pictures.

The Hits Just Keep On Coming: My friend, Andy, sent me some simple home remedies that I thought I'd share with you.
1. Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them for you while you chop.
2. Avoid arguments with the Mrs about lifting the toilet seat by using the shower.
3. For people with high blood pressure, you can resolve this malady by simple cutting yourself and bleeding for a while. Remember to use a timer.
4. A mouse trap, strategically placed on your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button
5. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives and you'll be afraid to cough.
6. You only need two things in life - WD 40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD 40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.
And From Jimmys Corner: Never step on a duck!
Joe Bob, Jim Bob and Billy Bob are greeted in heaven by St. Peter. "We have only one rule," he says. "Never step on a duck"
But upon passing through the Pearly Gates, they're surrounded by thousands of ducks, and Joe Bob steps on one. The duck quacks and soon, all the ducks are quacking.
"I warned you not to step on a duck," admonishes St. Peter. He shackles Joe Bob to a ferocious looking 260 lbs Amazon woman for all eternity.
Jim Bob steps on a duck and gets tethered forever to a Brute 6 foot 6 redheaded Viking woman.
Billy Bob thinks, poor ole Joe Bob and Jim Bob. And learns to watch his step. So St. Peter chains him to an absolutely gorgeous girl.
"Wow!" exclaims Billy Bob. "What did I do to deserve this?"
"I don't know about you," says the buxom beauty. "But I stepped on a duck."
That's it for today my little hush puppies. More tomorrow.
Stay Tuned !

I thought Jordan Sparks did us all proud by her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. EXCELLENT! Did you know her Dad used to play for the Giants? No laxatives or ducks for me, Thank you! Anne
It was a good game, and for once I got to enjoy it! We didn't have anyone over, we had chile, some snacks, and enjoyed the commercials too! The only thing I can't believe is that I sat on my butt for 4.5 hours!!

I'm not much of a football fan but I know most everyone wanted to see the patriots to win and even expected it. What a suprise! Love the jokes, Andy always comes up with good stuff! I really enjoy your journal as well. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. -Missy
I was mad at myself for forgetting to watch Jordin sing The Star Spangled Banner. I knew she was going to do it, there in her home town with her daddy right there to watch her. I was busy watching the "Puppy Bowl." Drat !! Linda in WA
A helluva game! WOW! I felt the same as you--Pats wouldn't cover the spread, but they'd win. What a nice surprise to be proven wrong! And to see a truly close, hard fought game...priceless! Thanks for your nod to the Manning family. Based on all the interviews I've heard, they really are a decent bunch, although I'll admit to being a little biased, since I'm a Colts fan. I'm hearing that this Super Bowl got huge ratings. I think most people love seeing the underdog win. Congrats to the Giants! By the way, I WISH I'd bet on the game, because I would've won. Darn it!
